Manchester United make late night move for Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United have made a last-minute attempt to spoil Manchester City’s plans to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, it has been claimed in Italy
Ronaldo is pushing for a move away from Juventus this summer with Manchester City appearing to be his likely option.
The forward has agreed personal terms with Manchester City and super agent Jorge Mendes is now trying to broker a deal between the two clubs.
Juventus want €30m for the veteran forward and Manchester City are pushing to get the deal over the line despite initially having doubts over where Ronaldo would fit in.
But according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, Manchester United are now in the race to sign Ronaldo as well ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
It has been claimed that the Red Devils made contact with the player’s representatives last night to probe the possibility of signing him.
Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and a Champions League during his six-year stay at Manchester United before leaving them in 2009.
It appears Manchester United have got the wind of Manchester City potentially landing him and are now desperately trying to stop that from happening.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can convince Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford over moving to the Etihad.
