Man Utd agree first January transfer signing

The latest Premier League transfer rumours today as Wales international Aaron Ramsey's future lies elsewhere

Here are the Premier League transfer rumours for Wednesday, January 5.

Man Utd to make first signing

Manchester United are set to make Julian Alvarez their first January transfer signing under Ralf Rangnick, according to reports.

Gazzetta dello Sport say United confirmed their intentions to the player's agent on Monday night, with the Premier League side prepared to meet River Plate's £16.7million asking price.

Rangnick is said to have told agent Fernando Hidalgo in the secret meeting that he “likes Alavrez a lot”.

However, they claim United must first finalise the departure of Anthony Martial, who is wanted by Sevilla.

Trippier arrives at Newcastle

England international Kieran Trippier has arrived in Newcastle for a medical ahead of his proposed move to the Magpies from Atletico Madrid.

The former Spurs defender is set to become Newcastle's first signing under their new Saudi-led ownership, for a reported fee of £12m.

Ramsey exit confirmed

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will leave the club this month, with Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace all having been linked with a move for the player.

The Wales playmaker was rumoured to be leaving Turin in the summer, however he remained with the club in a bid to force his way back into the starting lineup on a regular basis.

But Ramsey has played only five times for the Serie A club this term, prompting many to believe a return to the Premier League was on the cards.

Now, Allegri has confirmed the 31-year-old will leave the Italian outfit this month.

“Ramsey is back after he left for some work in a different manner in England," Allegri said.

“However, he is an outgoing player."

Liverpool flop targeted

Barcelona plan to move for Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita, according to El Nacional.

The 26-year-old has failed to live up to the lofty expectations that greeted his arrival in a £48million deal from RB Leipzig.

Keita has played more first team football in recent weeks but is now in the final 18 months of his contract, with Barca prepared to test Liverpool's desire to keep him.

Man Utd's £35m offer for midfielder

Man Utd reportedly want to sign Ruben Neves after his impressive performance in Wolves' 1-0 victory at Old Trafford on Monday.

The Sun report United will offer around £35m for the Portuguese international, although Wolves are demanding £40m.

Neves has expressed his desire to play Champions League football and is unlikely to sign an extension on his existing deal.

And with Ralf Rangnick keen on signing a new midfielder for the club, Neves could be the man he sets his sights on.
