Liverpool fans react as Jurgen Klopp learns price to complete shock Aston Villa transfer

Latest Aston Villa transfer news from BirminghamLive brings what Liverpool fans have been saying about a potential move for Lions midfielder John McGinn with Jurgen Klopp said to be a fan

Liverpool fans have had their say on a move for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.

McGinn is being linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, and while a departure from Villa looks extremely unlikely, there is interest from Jurgen Klopp's side and Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The Athletic are reporting that Liverpool would have to offer between £45 and £50 million for the player in order for Villa to consider McGinn's departure.

The Scotland international is under contract at Villa Park until 2025 after penning fresh terms at Villa in December last year.

McGinn enjoyed a fine opening 18 months of his career at Villa, having snubbed Celtic for a move to the Second City three years ago.

After breaking his ankle in December 2019, he spent time out until lockdown and came back to help Dean Smith's Villa avoid relegation.

Last season he played a key part in Villa's push for Europe and eventual finish in 11th place and has stood out in Scotland's European Championships campaign.

Liverpool are looking for a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who left Anfield for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer earlier this month.

They could consider McGinn, but it is unlikely Liverpool will be able to afford the 26-year-old.

And Reds fans have had their say on social media about a move for McGinn.

One fan said: "The problem with McGinn isn’t his quality. He is a great player, it’s that ridiculous price tag."

"I like McGinn and think he would suit our style of play but for the £50m price tag floating about sounds unrealistic," another added.

"Calm down, McGinn is never happening at that price," a third fan said. while another added: "I genuinely think McGinn is brilliant and would suit Liverpool so well but no chance at that price."

A fifth supporter said: "McGinn would be an incredible addition at the right price."
