Chelsea star passes medical, all set to complete move away from Blues
Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta has passed his medical ahead of joining Serie A side Atalanta on a permanent move, with the signing now imminent
The Italian arrived at Chelsea from Torino in the summer of 2017 but has spent the last two seasons shipped off on loan at Roma and Genoa respectively.
Chelsea were trying to move the full-back on this summer to shed his salary from their wage bill and Serie A outfit Atalanta emerged as the top destination for him.
La Dea managed to a agree to a permanent deal with the Blues for Zappacosta and he was put through his medical paces earlier today.
And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, the Italian has passed his medical ahead of a move to the Stadio di Bergamo.
Having proven his fitness, Atalanta are expected to announce Zappacosta’s signing later today and he could be available to them as early as against Bologna in Serie A at the weekend.
Zappacosta was part of Atlanta’s youth system, rising through the ranks and making 30 senior appearances for the club across all competitions in his first spell there.
The defender will be hoping he can add to that tally on a regular basis, having earned a move away from Chelsea after a four-years stint on the books at Stamford Bridge.
