Antonio Conte's specific Tottenham transfer request - and the 6 players he wants to sign
Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been out of work since winning Serie A with Inter Milan last season and has been careful not to jump back into the hot seat with another club
Antonio Conte has been linked with the vacant Tottenham job after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked on Monday.
The former Chelsea manager has been out of work since winning Serie A with Inter Milan last season and has been careful not to jump back into the hot seat with another club.
Conte has previously indicated he would not be interested in the Spurs job, which he was in the frame for before Nuno was hired.
But the Italian is currently in London and could be announced as the next Tottenham manager with the next 24 hours.
Reports in Italy claim Conte is now keen on joining Spurs and that he even has his eye on a handful of targets for January.
According to Sport Mediaset, Dusan Vlahovic has been touted as a possible replacement for Harry Kane.
The England captain wanted to leave Spurs in the summer but the door was closed on a transfer to Manchester City, and this has somewhat backfired on Tottenham.
Selling the striker would now be best for Spurs, and Fiorentina chiefs Joe Barone and Daniele Prade have allegedly met with Tottenham chiefs in London to discuss Vlahovic.
A second player on Conte's wishlist is Inter Milan's Marcelo Brozovic, who is out of contract in 2022 and has been touted as a replacement for Tanguy Ndombele.
The idea is Brozovic moves to Spurs and Ndombele to Inter in a straight swap.
Franck Kessie, Manuel Lazzari and Federico Chiesa are three more players that Conte is reportedly keen to bring to Spurs.
And it is said that the Italian is also keen on signing a centre-back, with three names in the fray: Stefan De Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, Matthijs de Ligt.
Whether Conte will get big money to spend in January remains to be seen, but Spurs chiefs know the Italian likes to splash the cash and it's unlikely he'll take the job unless he's given assurances over a transfer budget.
Nuno struggled to motivate a deteriorated Mauricio Pochettino Spurs side and the board must be prepared to spend money on new blood if Conte is to turn things around.
A raid on Serie A looks likely given Conte's knowledge of the league and the success he had in it last season.
