5 players that could still leave Barcelona this month

With two full weeks and a day left in the current transfer window, FC Barcelona still intend to offload players with a view to registering new signings and renewing the contracts of breakout stars like Gavi and Nico Gonzalez

Here are five players that may leave the club before January is out.

Samuel Umtiti

Offered a bumper deal by ex-president Josep Bartomeu after returning from Russia a World Cup winner in 2018, the Frenchman had previously refused to entertain leaving the Blaugrana but has had a change of heart.

Recently renewing terms until 2026, this was done so that his salary could be reduced. But he obviously doesn't feature in Xavi's plans after not even making the bench for the Spanish Supercup semi-final defeat to Real Madrid last week.

Ousmane Dembele

Umtiti's Les Bleus teammate is said to be disheartened by the arrival of Ferran Torres while his agent makes outlandish demands to put pen to paper on a new agreement.

Rather than let one of their most expensive signings of all time - who joined from Borussia Dortmund for $154mn in 2017 - leave for free after June 30, Barca are open to offers for the forward now with newly-moneyed Newcastle often linked to his name.

Luuk de Jong

Ending the Dutchman's loan deal was one of the club's top tasks after he failed to impress during the reign of Ronald Koeman. With three goals in his last three games, however, he has proven himself a useful target man that has won Xavi round but Barca's bid to sign another striker would make him surplus to requirements.

To this end, Sport say that his representatives are proactively trying to find him a new destination rather than hang around.

Memphis Depay

The number 9 is another one of Koeman's darlings brought in on a free last summer. In comparison, however, he has done the opposite to De Jong by starting strong and now fading. Marca claim he still has "credit in the bank" with Xavi, but his high salary and the potential to make a profit from his sale is tempting.

Sergino Dest

One last Koeman favorite who the former manager tried to get to play for the Dutch national team and not the US equivalent, Dest has failed to adapt to Xavi's system with Chelsea a possible suitor.

Bayern Munich raced with Barca for his signature 18 months ago, and he could figure into a part-exchange deal for others the Catalans are reportedly interested in such as Niklas Sule.
